BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- A profanity-laced video showing prominent Georgia pastor Ken Adkins is spreading across the internet.  Adkins can be heard screaming the n-word on what appears to be a cell phone recording. On it, he also disparages members of the Brunswick community.

Embarrassed by parts of it, Adkins watched the video Wednesday night with Action News' Jamie Smith.

The pastor said his tirade was secretly recorded months ago in the barbershop next door to his church in Brunswick moments after he witnessed a drug deal in his parking lot.

Adkins told Action News, "I said to them, 'I'm frustrated.'  I can't believe there are people who would jeopardize what we built because they're stupid and crazy."

Adkins can be heard on the 7-minute video blaming the community's plight on various people. "It's the black leaders' fault," the pastor can be heard yelling on the video.

Adkins also referred to members of his congregation in a disparaging manner, "I got to pastor these poor [expletive]!"

Adkins told Action News, "It was a heated statement saying, 'You ain't got nothing; I take you in;  I clean you up and this is the thanks I get?'"

More than a dozen of those congregation members he was speaking about, stood by the pastor for the interview.

"Some people need a little hardness to them. You can't be soft with everybody," said Eddie Collins, a former convict who credits Adkins with turning his life around.

"Sometimes you need tough love," said Collins.

"If I use some strong language to get young men to understand exactly what I say, I meant it. I meant it and they understood exactly what I was saying," said Adkins.

Adkins leads a congregation of hundreds at Greater Dimensions Christian Fellowship, including the grandmother of accused Brunswick baby killer, De'Marquis Elkins.

Adkins contends the media attention he garnered during that case prompted jealous political opponents to spread the video.

"We vote Republican," Adkins told Action News, "We vote straight down the list and now the political enemies are getting upset."

Wow,and wow again! So,since it's obvious Adkins'ministry is void of real Holy Spirit power, the answer is to lower himself to the world's standard of communication and see if that works? Is that some kind of joke? So,in what sense does being a"prominent pastor"have any particular relevance to the situations at hand? If your actions and attitude,Mr.Adkins, were getting the hope-for results, what need of God? Just stand in your pulpit and curse your congregation into submission;it's clear by your own admission the Word of God is not getting the job done!! It's no wonder you're members are so ready to defend you;you speak their language! Frankly,Mr.Adkins,it's been a long time since I heard a so-called"pastor" utter such unmitigated nonsense! What's wrong with you? Instead of trying to foist your failures off on everybody BUT your disobedience of The Word of God,you might want to get on your face, cry out in repentence, and humble yourself to be used of Almighty God to bring glory to His Name by living in righteousness and true holiness! Since you've been touted as a"prominent senior pastor",it shouldn't be necessary to remind you AND your enabling congregation that, according to the Scriptures,"...ye are bought with a price..."(1st Cor.6:20),that price being"...the precious Blood of Christ..."(1st Peter 1:19).Having been so bought with such a Price,we all of us don't belong to ourselves anymore;ALL that we are, tongues included,BELONG TO GOD,and can no longer be used in any manner we see fit!!! So,get it together,Mr.Adkins! It is simply beyond me how you expect the unsaved to act other than what they are, even in your parking lot! Get back to the Word, and get on your face, sir;do what the great Apostle told Timothy!(2nd Timothy 4:2)-PREACH THE WORD,not Mr.Adkins! And LIVE IT!

Ken Atkins isn't perfect but he is working to cure a lot of problems that have been neglected or encouraged by the black community in Brunswick. Is it a little crude - maybe, but you have to talk to people on their level. If more of you progressives would start doing a little work instead of just passing judgement we would all be better off. You won't do what Ken Atkins does, you just wantto criticize his methods and his message.
