Buckman Bridge reopened after severe accident

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Four people were rushed to the hospital after a vehicle accident shutdown the Buckman Bridge.

Jacksonville Fire Rescue says three of the four people were taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

The accident happened on on I-295 between the Buckman Bridge and the Roosevelt Boulevard exit in the northbound lanes.

Both northbound and southbound lanes of the Buckman Bridge were closed following the accident. 

Florida Highway Patrol says a Ford Explorer side-swiped a Kia Optima while the driver was changing lanes. All three people in the Ford did not have on seatbelts and were ejected, including two-year-old Alayshia Kennon. Twenty-eight-year-olds William Striglers III and Latena Kennon were transported to Orange Park Medical Hospital in serious condition. Alayshia was taken to Shands Hospital.

The driver of the Kia, Donald Kee was taken to St. Vincent's with serious injuries while his five-year-old passenger, Nykierston Kee was unharmed.

Action News is following this story and we're waiting to hear if any charges will be filed.

The mother or whoever was the guardian for the 2 year old that was ejected should be thrown in jail and throw away the key. That is inexcusable and I hope that they prosecute her to the full extent of the law!!
