JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- The Jacksonville Public Library today announced a new schedule of service hours effective Oct.1.

The library's fiscal year 2013 budget approved by the Jacksonville City Council Tuesday night reflects a reduction of $3.5 million from the previous year. As a result, on Oct. 1 service hours at 17 of the library's 21 locations will be reduced and 71 full-time positions will be eliminated.

All except five locations will be closed on Sundays. The Main Library, Charles Webb Wesconnett Regional Library, Pablo Creek Regional Library, Southeast Regional Library and Highlands Branch Library will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Most locations will be closed on Mondays.

Community organizations that have reserved meeting rooms are asked to reschedule meetings affected by the change in service hours.
