LAKE CITY, Fla. -- Two men believed to be behind a burglary ring across six counties are now in jail.

Columbia County investigators say John Francis Thomas ran a stop sign in Marion County but refused to stop. Deputies rammed the vehicle to end the pursuit. Robert Duke Walker, 19, ran from the car but K-9 officers tracked him down.

In the car, deputies say they found a large amount of jewelry. The car matched the vehicle description of several burglaries in Marion, Sumter, Columbia, Volusia, Lake and Alachua counties. The robbers would kick in the door of the homes to get inside. Nine of those break-ins took place in Columbia County over the past two weeks.
