JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A career criminal is expected to spend the rest of his life in jail for robbing a fast-food restaurant.

Harvey Holmes, 46, was convicted of the 2009 hold-up of the Sonic at Regency Square. Investigators say he shot his way into the business because the door was locked. He then took a bag of money and ran off. A K-9 unit from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office tracked him down a short time later.

Holmes was labeled a violent career criminal and habitual felony offender. He has convictions dating back to 1987 for burglary, robbery, and armed robbery. Holmes robbed the Sonic after serving eight months in prison for a prior crime.

Why is he just now being convicted of a crime that occurred in 2009? He was arrested shortly after the robbery.

Good to know he is where he should be. Perhaps that is where he wants to spend his life since he committed this crime shortly after being released from time imprisoned. Suppose some need to be in a place where they have a food, clothing and a roof while not having to do anything for it.
