Career criminal gets life in jail after holding up a Sonic
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A career criminal is expected to spend the rest of his life in jail for robbing a fast-food restaurant.
Harvey Holmes, 46, was convicted of the 2009 hold-up of the Sonic at Regency Square. Investigators say he shot his way into the business because the door was locked. He then took a bag of money and ran off. A K-9 unit from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office tracked him down a short time later.
Holmes was labeled a violent career criminal and habitual felony offender. He has convictions dating back to 1987 for burglary, robbery, and armed robbery. Holmes robbed the Sonic after serving eight months in prison for a prior crime.
