JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --Action News has learned there is some interest in the regency square mall.

A potential investor is looking to revamp the west side of the mall from Belk to Sears.

The head of the city's office of economic development recently met with a potential investor. The company is exploring the possibility of using half of the mall for education buildings or office space.

The plan is to also increase regular mall traffic on the east side Regency Square, without shutting down the mall.

Right now, the mall is owned by a company called GGP based out of Chicago.

They should add more stores in the mall instead putting some crazy offices. I don't like it and i'm against it.

A school is good because the stores are being robbed and forced out of business.
