JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 21-year-old woman was killed after her car slammed into a pole Saturday morning along Interstate 295 in Mandarin, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers tell Action News Linda Baker was driving her Toyota Cressidna along I-295 near Old St. Augustine Road when a car driven by  Aaron Dottson-Pruett, 23, slammed into the back of Baker’s, causing her to lose control and crash into a light pole.

The FHP report states Baker died at the scene and Dottson-Pruett was transported to Baptist South with minor injuries.

Police shut down the roadway for several hours while they investigated the crash.

Troopers say charges likely will be filled against Dottson-Pruett when the investigation is complete.

I would like to know WHY he slammed into the back of her to make her hit the pole? Was he drinking the night before and was still intoxicated or hung over? Texting? Distracted driving?
