JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- After a six week investigation, Jacksonville's Current Planning Department Chief, Sean Kelly, has been forced to step down.
Mayor Alvin Brown ended Kelly's term as Chief of Current Planning on Tuesday.
On October 22, the city placed Kelly on paid administrative leave after several issues arose about his department's performance.
A letter was sent to Kelly from Planning and Development Director Calvin Burney.
The letter doesn't explain any reason for the demotion. It simply reads, "The administration has chosen not to retain you in your current position as Division Chief of Current Planning."
Kelly had been at the position since 2008 with a salary of $90,000 a year. He will revert to a zoning administrator with a salary of about $73,000 a year.
Mayor Brown has selected Folks Huxford as acting Division Chief, until he appoints a permanent replacement.
