ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A Florida couple is facing capitol sexual battery charges against young children.
Investigators said the victims spoke out after six month of abuse. "At the time of the crimes, the children were under the age of 12," said Commander Chuck Mulligan with the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.
The victims eventually told leaders at an undisclosed school in Flagler County what was happening.
DCF was notified and St. Johns County investigators then swarmed the home of one of the suspects, arresting 27-year old William Clarence Dillow.
We knocked on the door but were told to leave. "I have nothing to say to you," said the man inside.
The home happens to be in a school zone, and neighbors said that children pass the house daily on their walk to school. Deputies won't say if it's where the alleged incidents occurred.
"We're just at the tip of this investigation. There's a lot of forensic examinations and whatnot that we're going to do on evidence that was taken today," said Mulligan.
The other suspect, Rhonda Wilkerson, is behind bars in Flagler County. We called the number she had listed and spoke with her mother. She said Wilkerson lived with her, and was dating Dillow until very recently.
She also said her daughter has never been arrested before. But the same can't be said about Dillow. He has a prior record in New jersey for aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
Action News has learned that two do the victims were young girls, ages 9 and 11. We're told they are now in state custody.
