ATLANTA (WSB-TV) — Carroll County residents are sending well wishes to 7-year-old Megan Winters.

Megan Winters fell 45 feet down a well Monday afternoon. The girl fell head-first into the dry, narrow and dark well, landing upside down and on her head.

"I wish Megan all the best, and God bless her and her family," said neighbor Andy Loner.

Megan Winters' mom, Melissa Winters, posted on Facebook that they will need prayers and blessings because the 7-year-old's injuries are worse than previously thought.

She was rushed to Children's Health Care of Atlanta at Egelston, where doctors discovered Megan Winters had a broken arm, hip, leg and several broken bones in her face.

She also had some bleeding around her brain.

Melissa Winters also posted all the stress caused Megan Winters' grandmother to have a heart attack.

Channel 2's Dave Huddleston talked to Melissa Winters briefly on the phone. She told him that Megan Winters had just come out of surgery on her leg and was doing well.

But then she had to go because the doctors came into the room to talk to her.

Back in Whitesburg, Loner says the whole community is pulling for Megan Winters to get better.

"It was a terrible accident but our neighbors are here for each other and we always will be," Loner said.
