ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- Two boys, aged 12 and 14, are accused of stealing a car in St. Augustine.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office received a report of a stolen 2005 Nissan Pathfinder from North Orange Street late Tuesday night.

Officers with the St. Augustine Police department saw the car on State Road 207.

Authorities say when police tried to stop the car, the young driver sped away before crashing into another car at SR 207 and Holmes Boulevard.

The Pathfinder careened into a parking lot before slamming into a sign post.

The two youngsters were taken to Flagler Hospital with minor injuries. They were not wearing seat belts, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The children face vehicle theft, grand theft, and possession of stolen property.
