JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A judge has denied bond for the man accused in the beating death of a 2-year-old child.

Nicholas Rivet, 35, is charged with the toddler's murder. It happened back in 2010 at off-base housing for Naval Station Mayport. Doctors ruled Eddie Robb, 2, died from blunt force trauma. He suffered a blown pupil and skull fracture, according to the report.

Lt. Rob Schoonover with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the lengthy investigation was due in part to the conflicting stories between Rivet and the boy's mother. Rivet is a member of the U.S. Navy, but investigators did not release his rank. They do say he is not the boy's father.

Rivet will be back in court June 13.

This is a despicable person. An embarrassment to the Navy for sure. Must wonder how this guy treated the mother of this child he murdered. Hope he looses everything. Dishonorable discharge, life in prison, not death as it needs to live out its natural life knowing that as a grown man it beat a little kid to death.
