JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Local businesses stepped up to help a family whose kids Christmas presents were stolen in a burglary.
Mellina Parker told Action News Tuesday how devastated and upset her daughter was when they came home to find someone had broken in and stolen Christmas presents.
Mark Berman owns Mediashare Consulting. When he saw the family's story on Action News, it tugged at his heart. "I jumped up and said I have to help."
So together with Legacy Trust and the Alhambra Dinner Theater, Berman made 4-year-old Jerilyn smile from ear to ear. Berman brought toys and gift cards to the family's door so they could rest a little easier. "You could see she forgot all about what happened to them," said Berman. "The smile on her face. It's wonderful to see her happy again," said Parker.
Even Action News viewers like Jeff from the Southside dropped off stuffed animals and a note at our studios. This family says they're just grateful they can give their children a happy Christmas. "The community is awesome. It's nice to see people have hearts," said Parker.
No arrests have been made in this case. If you know anything, call the Duval County Crime Stoppers at 1 866 845 TIPS.
