Citywide help available for healthcare enrollment
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- There's a big push underway in Jacksonville to make sure everyone who needs to sign up for health insurance through the new exchanges can do so by the March 31 deadline.
Saturday the City of Jacksonville and Get Covered America, along with Planned Parenthood, the Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida, Sulzbacher Center and the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida hosted a citywide enrollment fair. It was the the second in a series of events featuring the newly-formed health care coverage partnership between Mayor Alvin Brown and community health groups.
Saturday's enrollment fair builds off of January's kickoff at Legends Community Center, where more than 200 people were able to get assistance enrolling in affordable health coverage.
The coalition will host one more event in Duval County before the March 31 open enrollment deadline. That event will be March 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Prime Osborn Convention Center.
