Clay County School Board to investigate actions of Superintendent
CLAY COUNTY, Fla.-- The Clay County School Board is launching an investigation into Superintendent Charlie Van Zant.
The investigation is in response to Van Zant's continued support of the Dare to Think conference -- an event the School Board of Clay County has already taken action to disassociate its schools from.
"The Superintendent continues to treat the School Board budget as if it were his own personal checkbook. I am thankful to hear Chairman Studdard has called this special meeting to allow the Board to discuss and look into this matter and, if necessary, take further legal action to hold the Superintendent accountable," wrote School Board member Jancie Kerekes in a news release.
The special meeting of the Clay County School Board will be Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. at the Teacher Training Center located at Fleming Island High School.
