Clay County receives millions to add firefighters
CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- The fire and rescue department in Clay County was recently awarded more than $2 million in a federal grant to hire firefighters to meet staffing needs.
The grant is part of $320 million that was made available by the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Program.
Only around half a dozen counties in the state received the aid from the Homeland Security Department.
Both Rep. Corrine Brown and Sen. Bill Nelson were supporters of Clay County's quest for additional funding, a press release states.
