Cold case investigators looking for new leads in 25-year-old case

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Cold case investigators are looking for new leads in the strangling death of a Gainesville woman.

Aug. 28 marks 25 years since the body of Rita Melton was discovered in a wooded area near Orange Heights. The Alachua County Sheriff's Office says she was strangled to death. Detectives also believe Melton knew her attacker. Melton leaves behind a mother, twin sister, and two other siblings.
