COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- Due to Tropical Storm Debby, Columbia County's Emergency Operations Center and Citizen's Information Center are both activated. They are urging all residents to stay home today due to severe flooding.
An information center hotline has been set up at 386-719-7530. Please use this line to report road issues, assistance with evacuation and other issues related to the significant rain fall in the county.
Columbia County officials are asking that residents do not call 911 unless they are experiencing a true emergency.
Florida Gateway College is closed today due to the entrance to the school being flooded.
An emergency shelter is now open at Richardson Middle School.
Columbia County officials also say that residents are ignoring warning signs about flooded roads and still attempting to drive around them.
Drivers are reminded to not drive through water of unknown depth.
