LAKE CITY, Fla. -- Before the night erupted with pre-game celebrations, the Fighting Tigers paid tribute to 17-year-old Czarrah Howard with a moment of silence.
With a heavy heart and her friend in mind, Lake City cheerleader Darrah McNair incorporated Czarrah's favorite colors into her uniform.
"Everyone seems to be OK and coping with it, trying not to look so upset about it and trying to stay strong," said McNair.
Czarrah's excitement for Homecoming weekend was resonating with the senior class.
They even built a float dedicated to the former beauty pageant contestant.
At Friday's game, the students were bursting with school spirit just like she would have wanted. "It brought us all together as one. It wasn't split up in grades anymore, there's no competition.
We all came together to celebrate her, tribute to her and honor her," said senior Gator Collins.
Even the opposing team, Orange Park High School, showed their support when they handed off a banner they made especially for Czarrah.
What Czarrah would be most thankful for is the donation table at the game, which will help her family lay her to rest.
