GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Combing through branches, a community gathers together to search the wooded parts of Gainesville, hoping to find 18-year-old Christian Aguilar.
"Time is of the essence in this situation. And if my family was in this situation, I would hope people would do it for me," says volunteer Angelina Lapiana.
Angelina Lapiana is a UF student. She heard about Christian being missing, looked him up on Facebook and found out they went to the same middle school.
She felt the need to help. "It's so sad and we just want to try to get him home and safe," she says. Lapiana is just one of many who joined the search.
Volunteer Tom Tumbleson says, "I came out and found the family to be very special. Very warm, very caring and very agonized. I just decided to come out and see if I could help them and I have some free time. And hopefully other people will do the same."
Tumbleson says he will continue to search side by side with the family until Christian is found. "It's a real bad situation and you hate it for a family," he says.
As for Aguilar's family, all they can do is say thank you. Christian's cousin, Angel Valencia, says, "It's just so much support. It's obviously welcome. It's just a breath of fresh air almost."
