ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- A community group has stepped up to take over an annual Clay County Independence Day celebration.

Moosehaven retirement community will host the free American Pride 4th of July from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 4. The event will conclude with a fireworks show at 9:15 p.m. From 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., guests ages 13 and older will be charged $5 to cover the cost of the Jerrod Niemann concert. Moosehaven is partnering with Renda Broadcasting to present the country singer's performance.

River Road will be closed throughout the day.

On Monday, the Rotary Club sent out a release saying it would no longer be presenting the event.

Except for 2010, the event has been presented every year since 2000.

Too bad this story wasn't verified before it was published. The event will be held. There is a $5 charge for the concert, which features national country recording artist Jerrod Niemann, but the fireworks remain free to the public. Moosehaven
