Controlled burn causing smoke, limited visibility
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida Forest Service says an effort to keep the Baldwin Bay fire contained is creating a lot of smoke and limited visibility on the road on the Westside Saturday.
Forest Service Public Information Officer Annaleasa Winter says firefighters burned 150 acres on the north end of the Baldwin Bay fire to keep it contained in a swamp.
She says the burnout was successful but winds are causing the smoke from the fire to affect the westside of Duval County Saturday morning.
The Florida Highway Patrol has set up smoke advisory signs at the intersection of U.S. 90 and County Road 121 due to the limited visibility in the area.
