JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- The Rev. Henry T. Rhim is well known in the Springfield area.

He's pastored St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church for four decades, which is why Councilman Reginald Gaffney wants to rename 1st Street West after him.

"I think it's a fine gesture," Ralph Smith said.

Smith attends St. Joseph. He's all for the change, but some people aren't.

"I don't believe it should be done. I think they need to put the money back into the economy and not waste money on things that don't need to be done," Tanya Anderson said.

According to the city of Jacksonville, it would take about $2,000 to change the signs. The 911 Emergency Addressing Advisory Committee has already given it the thumbs up. Now it's up to the Historic Preservation Commission to make recommendations.

Smith thinks for all Rhim's done in the community, he deserves the honor.

"For an old man, it might add some years to his life."

For the renaming to go through, legislation has to be presented and approved by City Council.

This is once again proof of just how out of touch our council members are with our money problems! He may well deserve it, but not on tax payer money.

Well, I think he should have it also, take up donations on the web and make it so...he will probably get a lot more than $2000..
