County seeks caretaker for preserve lands
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. -- Alachua County is seeking an individual to help maintain some 23 acres of Newnans Lake Preserve.
The county says the chosen caretaker will be responsible for upkeep, maintenance and security of the preserve, located east of Gainesville.
In return for the service, officials will award five years of hunting rights.
Interested residents must attend a proposal meeting Sept. 10 in order to be considered for the position.
The meeting is scheduled to take place at 9 a.m. at the Preserve, located at 5600 SE Hawthorne Road.
This is one of Alachua County's first ventures in hunting in exchange for service.
