Couple accused of luring man for sex, robbing him
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. -- A Gainesville couple has been arrested after police say they attacked and robbed a man who thought he was meeting up with the woman to pay her for sex.
Investigators say Jennifer Robbins lured the victim to a room at the Super 8 motel in Melrose and offered to have sex with him in exchange for $500 in rent money.
Detectives say Robbins attacked the man with pepper spray as soon as he handed over the money and closed the blinds. Police say she then opened the motel room door to let in an acquaintance, Matthew Pauley.
The three started fighting, and witnesses say the brawl spilled out into the hallway. Other hotel guests separated the two men and that's when Robbins and Pauley took off, witnesses say.
Officials say the suspects left some of the cash and a motel key card behind, which helped police track them down. Robbins and Pauley were both arrested after police interviews.
