JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 73-year-old Westside woman is still in shock after a man jumped through the dining-room window and held her at gunpoint in her own bedroom.
"I was standing in the doorway right here and he was standing right here," she said. "He put a gun right next to my head and said 'shut up'."
The woman did not want to reveal her identity to protect herself. She tells me she grabbed her gun from her dresser drawer and screamed for her husband. That's when the suspect fired, hitting her leg.
"He realized I had a gun and then right away he shot," she said.
Her husband came running down the hall when he heard gunshots and fired back at the suspect but it was too late.
"He did see him and he did shoot, but he missed him, He didn't get him," she said.
Bullets graze the carpet and the walls, but the suspect fled through the back door unscathed. Police are still trying to find him.
"I'd love to have comfort in knowing that he was caught," she said.
