JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- One of the largest owners of cable, television and radio is increasing its stake in the Jacksonville Market. WAWS-TV FOX30 and WTEV-TV CBS47 are now part of
Cox Media Group after the sale of the stations was finalized Monday.
CMG bought
WAWS-TV FOX 30, one of the top-rated FOX affiliates in the United States, and will operate Jacksonville's most-watched television station
WTEV-TV CBS 47 in a shared services agreement with Bayshore Television.
This is big news for Jacksonville viewers, who will be getting much, much more. Cox Media Group has a portfolio of 15 broadcasting TV stations, 86 radio stations, eight daily newspapers and more than a dozen non-daily publications, and more than 100 digital services.
CMG, based out of Atlanta, operates in more than 30 media markets and reaches approximately 52 million Americans weekly.
