Crash sends car into retention pond, injures driver
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A driver was rescued when a car sank in a westside retention pond is recovering at Shands.
JFRD says a minivan rear-ended a car on 10rd Street near Chaffee Road just before 8 p.m. Friday. That collission sent the car into a nearby retention pond.
Crews say several witnesses stopped and helped pull the driver from the car as it car sank into the water. That driver was given CPR and taken to UF and Shands Jacksonville and was last reported to be in critical condtion by the Florida Highway Patrol.
The other driver was taken to Orange Park Medical Center. He was last listed, by the FHP, to be in serious condition.
