JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- There are more troubles for the already troubled Shannon Ridge Apartment Complex.  It's been a ghost town since being partially condemned by the city back in October, but police now say thieves have moved in, cleaning out 90 apartments.

Neighbors, not willing to show their faces, say they're not surprised to hear it.  "Not from those apartments.  No, I am not," one man said.

According to the police report, the crooks broke into the vacant units by unscrewing the doors or busting out windows.  Once inside, they took refrigerators, stoves, hot water heaters, AC units.  In all, $126,000 worth of appliances.

"I don't pay anybody any attention out here.  I stay to myself.  I don't get caught up in any of the stuff that's out here," said the unidentified neighbor.  He says he hasn't seen anything suspicious lately.  He'd just like to see Shannon Ridge restored.

"Maybe if they can get up and running right, we could find homes for some people who don't have homes at all," he said.

So far, there have been no arrests in this case.  Police say this a crime that likely happened over a few weeks.  Police have a report from December 14 showing that some appliances had been stolen.

Action News did contact the management company.  It did not want to talk about the crime.
