JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- It's crunch time for Christmas shoppers! As the clock winds down...the hustle kicks up.
"No plan. That's why I'm out last minute shopping," shopper Mary Colston said.
The St. Johns Town Center is typically dead on Sunday nights...but not this time. Frantic parents, co-workers and siblings came out in throngs to find the perfect gift.
For some, that task was drama-free and a piece of cake.
"Everything's been great here," Colston continued.
Extended holiday hours undoubtedly made things more convenient. Retailers from Best Buy to Target to Old Navy burned the midnight oil to keep the doors open. Toys R' Us is even staying open 24 hours until 10 p.m. Christmas Eve.
"It was nice to be able to come up tonight. I think it's going cause it to be a little less crowded because of that," shopper John Arnold said.
Arnold and his wife finished their shopping two weeks ago, but came out to spend some unused gift cards. He has a word of advice to everyone sitting at home.
"Don't wait until the last day...and get it done now instead of tomorrow. There's no way we're going out tomorrow," he said with a smile.
The Avenues Mall, Orange Park Mall and Town Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Christmas Eve.
They'll be closed on Christmas Day.
