ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Investigators said a trooper and an off-duty deputy teamed up to take down a 47-year-old DUI suspect who led the trooper on a chase before crashing and then fleeing on foot.

A trooper spotted Ossie Irvine, 47, swerving along the turnpike, so he tried to pull him over. But Irvine sped away at nearly 125 mph, authorities said.

A few minutes later the trooper caught up to Irvine's vehicle right as the suspect crashed into a guardrail near SR-429. But dashcam video shows Irvine step on the gas, cross the roadway and slam into Lake County Deputy Pablo Rivera's cruiser.

Rivera said he was on his way to home when Irvine crashed behind him, so he pulled over to help. He didn't realize the career criminal was going to crash into his vehicle in an attempt to flee the scene.

"Once he comes around, I just hear more acceleration and he starts to beeline straight towards my vehicle," said Rivera.

After the second crash, dashcam video shows Irvine casually get out of the car and attempt to walk away, but the deputy shot him with a Taser, sending the suspect tumbling over the guardrail and down a 50-foot hill.

The deputy and trooper were able to get down the hill to apprehend Irvine.

"He doesn't care about the safety of others," said Rivera.

Irvine allegedly refused to take a Breathalyzer and then fell asleep in the back of the trooper's car.

He was charged with DUI, among other charges, and is currently in jail.
