JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A shooting over loud music is what kept a father from seeing his son's 18th birthday.

"You want your child to get the first car, get that first job and do some of those wonderful things that 18-year-olds do," said Ron Davis.

But come Saturday, loud music will be played in downtown Jacksonville to honor Jordan Davis' life. "It's Jordan's birthday, and it will be a big day for Jacksonville," said Ron.

Ron Davis is teaming up with two local DJ's at the Jacksonville Landing for the "Turn Up the Music for Our Youth" day. "This is the proclamation proclaiming Jordan Russell Davis Day in the City of Jacksonville," said Ron.

Davis says the only thing louder than the music Saturday will be his message of non-violence. "We want to repeal, change, rewrite the stand your ground law," he said.

The man accused of killing the teen said he felt threatened and was standing his ground when he pulled the trigger. "It's to much gray area. And to many of our kids and to many of our adults are getting killed. We call it the shoot first, ask questions later law," said Davis.

Ron is now fighting the law while celebrating Jordan's life to keep other parents from missing out on this major milestone. "It will be bittersweet," said Ron.

Michael Dunn is charged in Davis' death. He is due in court February 19 . Festivities for Jordan Davis Day are Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Jacksonville Landing.

Mr. Davis, I am sorry for your loss. However I do have to say that your ignorance is only exceeded by your stupidity. There is no such thing as the"shoot first..." law. If your son was as dumb as you he may have brought this on himself. Maybe you should write a book in an attempt to capitalize on your son's death instead of standing around making stupid statements about a law with which you are in no way familiar.

Oh that's a good one imtellin, an 'air horn'...maybe I will put one on my scooter..I bet that would scare their 'pants to the ground' since some pants on these 'DISRESPECTFULL' clowns are already half way there. I can't believe some of these kids had momma's, much less daddy's...if I didn't show 'respect' at all times when I was raised, I got the 'crappola' beat out of me.

yeah ole davis sure is trying to capitalize on his sons death !!! next we'll hear he has sold the rights for a movie, so dad can move to south florida & shoot golf balls on the same links OJ did!!!thankfully we don't live in jaxville & don't have to hear that jungle crappola called music !!! we had our song in the big apple,, " i fought the law & the law won " !!! this was pre gangsta rap,, & we never lost a case !!! no one has the right to assault others auditory senses with noise & davis would be wiser to counsel respect for others... going down the interstate is one thing,, cruising round town blastin that sheet, is another !!! my solution is to carry an air horn & start blasting away when 1 of them pulls up next to me... they ain't happy, but 170 decibels of ear shattering noise,, sure gets thier attention !!!

YOUR AN IDIOT DAVIS...this is not what happened and you know it. If you want to make your child's life count, stand up to the THUGS YOU ALLOWED YOUR SON TO RUN WITH THAT NIGHT. Not the ones who have a RIGHT to defend themselves when they are threatened. Your SMILE is still out here in everyone's faces, trying to start more crap instead of mourning the son you claimed you love, the son you had NO IDEA who he was with that night or didn't care. The blame game starts in the mirror, 'dad'...and I use that term loosely for you.
