LAKE CITY, Fla. -- A judge ruled Friday a man convicted of killing a correctional officer should pay for the crime with his life.

A judge sentenced Richard Franklin to death for the murder of Sgt. Ruben Thomas.

Prosecutors said Franklin stabbed Thomas in the neck with a homemade weapon at the Columbia Correctional Institution in March 2012.

Franklin was already serving life in prison for battery on a law enforcement officer.

I can only say if a thug murders a thug, he doesn't deserve any justice or respect. If a thug murders a person who works, trying feed his/her family, trying to do 'good' in his world and community,he/she DESERVES RESPECT... the thug murderer deserves death, not life, I guess if we,the 'common folk'.. want someone put to death for murdering our loved one, we have to scream and demand it..that's my thoughts on it anyway
