JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- The presidential debates are over and in the record books-- but people are still buzzing.

Some of the most memorable moments came in the form of one-liners and terms like "Big Bird," "Binders Full of Women" and "horses and bayonets."

"The fact that it's on Facebook, it's on Twitter, the 'Daily Show' is running all these things and it's creating interest in an election that's very important," Dr. Michael Binder said.

Binder is an assistant political science professor at UNF. He says the social media satire has provided some comedic relief -- but others aren't amused.

"It kind of distracts from the issues and what people are really watching," Mary Rycezk said.

On Facebook, dozens of parody accounts have popped up, and Twitter hashtags like #bindersfullofwomen have gone viral. There's even tumbler accounts and memes like Big Bird holding a binder.

The latest craze came last night. President Obama made a "horses and bayonets" comment after Romney prodded him for overseeing a Navy that is smaller than at any time since 1917.

"A lot of it is just play. It's just performance," voter Jason Howard said.

Binder says the attacks in Libya, the economy, women's rights and taxes also stood out in the past few weeks.

He says at the end of the day -- that's most likely what it will come down to.

"Whoever can convince enough voters in the right states will be successful," he said.

According to Twitter, there were 6.5 million tweets during the debate with more than 105,000 tweets per minute after the "horses and bayonets" line.
