WASHINGTON D.C. -- The Pentagon will begin sending furlough notices Friday.

That means workers will be forced to stay home and not get paid for one day a week for 22 weeks. The sequestration-related cuts would run from April 21 through September 21. The furloughs will affect most of the defense department's 800,000 civilian employees.

Nearly 1,000 Florida National Guard members will also face cuts. About 400 soldiers won't be deployed because they are awaiting mandatory physicals.

The cuts will also hurt counter-narcotics operations. That unit will have to layoff 85 people.

Congress needs to take x3 whatever they put on the military. If the miltary does not get paid for 1 day week then 3 days week Congress should do without the equilvanent pay. Lead by example.

As Truthseeker commented~"and so it begins." Unfortunately the "elite ruling" class pass the legislation to protect their pay. Until/if "We the people" are able to decide the pay and benefits for these "leaders/rulers" this will be status quo. As one that has first hand experience as a DON civilian employee, many of those I worked with lived beyond their "base" pay & counted on the many hours of overtime to just pay the bills incurred by the lifestyle they put themselves accustomed to. I am not surprised that the loss of what they quote as 20% of their wages is tough for them. One day of pay is an average loss of $150 per day. Again, it would be interesting if those affected by this were to rally together to make changes on how the federal employees pay/benefits are decided. This to include ALL FEDERAL employees, which include congress.

And so it begins. The people who do the work are going to be furloughed while the elite ruling class politicians, who are the real root of this country's problems, keep taking their full pay checks home.
