JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A crash between a car and an ambulance on I-10 Eastbound at Stockton Street is causing significant delays in the area.
It was just one of more than a dozen accidents Thursday morning.
Mike Goldman of the Florida Department of Transportation urged drivers to be cautious as long as the weather conditions persist.
"People need to watch out for ponding in water on the roadways," Goldman said. "Some of those water patches will sneak up on you."
On I-10, Goldman asked drivers to take extra care while driving through construction zones and, above all, to slow down.
"The lower speed limits in construction zones are posted for a reason," Goldman said.
From the First Alert Traffic Center, cars were seen hydroplaning after driving too fast and hitting patches of water. Speed, Goldman said, was the primary suspect for the large number of accidents.
"Caution is the word of the hour here," Goldman said.
