Deputies ID Orange County deputy shot and killed in west Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, FLA -- Deputies have identified the deputy who was shot in killed early Tuesday morning.

The shooting happened near on Westminster Abbey Boulevard, west of the Turnpike in Orlando.

The Sheriff's Office said 29-year-old Benjamin Holtermann shot and killed 34-year-old Deputy Sheriff Jonathan Scott Pine.

Sheriff Pine went to the area where Holtermann tried to break into vehicles in the area near Conroy Windermere and South Apopka Vineland roads, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Deputy Pine confronted Holtermann. Then they said Holtermann ran off and Pine chased him around the neighborhood.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Deputy Pine collapsed from his gunshot wounds. Deputy Pine was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he later died.

Officials said Holtermann was found dead in the neighborhood.

Deputy Pine was with the Sheriff's Office for two years.
