GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- An Alachua county woman faces a child cruelty charge after she allegedly chocked her 14-year-old daughter because of a grade that appeared on the child's report card.

Deputies say they were dispatched to the Gainesville residence Saturday after the 911 dispatch center received a hang-up call.

The arrest report states that after questioning the home's occupants, detectives determined 39-year-old Congie Lolita Mack was in a physical altercation with her daughter because of a grade of a "D" on her school's progress report.

As part of the altercation, the mother grabbed her child's neck and repeatedly struck her with her hand deputies say.

Mack was arrested and booked into the Alachua County Jail, where she later posted bond.

The Department of Children and Families was notified about the case.

Yeah but if you want to make a child hate you, just keep beating them. A D is still not failing. She should be HELPING her daughter not HURTING her.

Well at least she is concerned about the grades her child is getting. I guess that's more than a lot of them do.
