Deputies are looking for man who attempted to abduct a child
KINGS BAY, Ga. -- The Camden County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in finding a man who allegedly tried to lure young boys into his van.
Deputies say a suspicious man approached an 11-year-old boy on Monday in the area of Oakridge Court on Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base and tried to coax him into his van. He told the child his mother had sent him to pick him up.
Another boy claims he encountered the suspicious van Wednesday afternoon on Lakes Blvd. in Kingsland about 7 miles from the naval base.
The driver is described as being in his late 30s to early 40s with a black mullet-like hairstyle. He may have facial hair or a goatee. He was last seen wearing a brown leather jacket and a green shirt.
The man was driving a faded black Ford Econoline van with rust on it and Venetian style blinds in the rear windows. The vehicle did not have KBNSB decals and did not appear to be military.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Camden County Sheriff's Office at (912) 729-1442 or the Camden County Crimeline at (912) 510-5163.
