ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- Deputies will be checking for drivers who don't need behind the wheel during a roadside checkpoint along Blanding Boulevard, near Orange Park Mall, from Saturday night into Sunday morning.
The checkpoint is slated to begin around 11 p.m. and run to 3 a.m. in the 200 block of Blanding Boulevard.
During this time period, motorists will be selected randomly for safety checks by uniformed deputies.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office says they will especially be on the lookout for DUIs, active warrants, license validity and other driving-related infractions.
More than 33,000 drivers were convicted of driving under the influence in 2011 on Florida roadways, according the Department of Motor Vehicles.
