JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man wanted for holding up a Dollar General Monday has been arrested.
Police say Aundre Campbell entered the Dollar General store on Dunn Avenue late Monday night with 22-year-old Rakeem Odoms. The two held the store's cashiers at gunpoint with two realistic-looking air pistols and stole cash from a drawer. Police say an armed civilian saved the day when he approached the two suspects, then shot Odoms three times, killing him.
"He did have a permit to carry the weapon, he was in a business shopping, minding his own business. But he put himself in harms way by getting involved, to me that's an extraordinary person to do that," said Lt. Robert Schoonover with JSO.
Campbell fled the scene after Odoms was shot. Police say family members led detectives to Campbell yesterday. He was arrested on an unrelated burglary warrant, and is being charged with armed robbery and felony murder. He is being held without bond.
