MARIETTA, Ga. -- Dominique Lang took the stand Wednesday appearing timid and nervous. But because prosecutors say he's one of the few people who witnessed the murder of a Brunswick baby, his testimony could make or break the case.

Lang said his memory has been cloudy since his arrest. He says he spends his time locked up "in a 4-by-10 [foot] cell, looking into space."

The 15-year-old boy is charged in one of the most heinous crimes the Brunswick area has seen, the murder of baby Antonio Santiago. While prosecutors say Lang didn't pull the trigger, they say he's just as guilty.

Prosecutors showed video of Lang and DeMarquise Elkins leaving their homes the morning of March 21.

Investigators say the teenagers met and tried to rob the baby's mother, Sherry West. When they didn't get what they wanted, prosecutors say, Elkins shot the baby in the face.

Now, Elkins is on trial, and Lang has been called as a witness. He'll have to tell the jury what he did that day, if he can.

Assistant public defender Jonathan Lockwood said to Lang, "So, since you've been locked up in the Youth Detention Center, your memory has had problems?"

Lang replied, "Something like that."

The jury still hasn't heard from Lang. He was called to the stand by attorneys who questioned his credibility as a witness. A judge ruled he is credible, so he will eventually take the stand.

Elkins' mother, Karimah Elkins, is also on trial right now. She's accused of hiding the suspected murder weapon.

The trial is expected to last two weeks.

So if Lang can't remember what happened, maybe he was the one who pulled the trigger.
