JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- It's a crime caught on camera that would make anyone cringe. Surveillance video shows a thief breaking into The Pig Bar-B-Q Saturday, July 14.

Police are still looking for a man who smashed through the front glass door, broke into the cash register with a crowbar and grabbed the donation jar on the counter.

"It is a shame that you can't help a co-worker out without somebody coming in and trying to take it," said manager, Andrew Louis Edwards.

Employees at the Lem Turner barbeque pit were trying to raise money to help a coworker pay for their mother's funeral.

"You don't have to break into an establishment that somebody worked hard to build up and do a thousand dollars worth of damage and not get anything," said Edwards.

There was less than $20 in the jar when it was taken, but employees at The Pig say the thief got away with so much more.

"What do you hope happens from here? They get caught, and pay for what they did because it was wrong," said Edwards. If the crime alone wasn't bad enough, the owners believe the thief may be one of their regular customers.

Anyone with information that can help police can call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
