JACKSONVILLE, Fla -- Strong storms with very heavy rain will affect much of metro Jacksonville through the late afternoon extending north through Nassau County into extreme Southeast Georgia and south through parts of Clay, St. Johns, Putnam and Flagler Counties. Rainfall rates of 1-2" per hour will cause localized urban and small stream flooding as well as ponding of water on highways so expect a slow afternoon commute with fast-changing conditions. The storms are also producing hundreds of lightning strikes every 10 minutes. Rain and storms will diminish by late evening with areas of fog developing as temperatures only drop into the upper 60s to mid 70s.
