JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The driver who killed a man with his truck at the Jacksonville Landing in August will serve six months in jail.

Brian Patterson, 32, of Macclenny will also serve probation, pay fines, attend DUI school, do 200 hours of community service and have his license suspended for a year.

Police say he got into a fight on Aug. 14 at Maverick's nightclub that spilled outside.

During the confrontation, Patterson tried to drive away in his pickup truck when he hit and killed Taylor Evans. Evans had not been involved in the earlier altercation.
