Driver trapped under power lines
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Firefighters made a daring rescue of a driver trapped underneath power lines.
A car crashed into a utility pole on Northeast 15th Street this afternoon. A witness called police to say the driver was hurt and power lines covered the car.
Crews with Gainesville Regional Utilities helped with the down wires. They also secured the utility pole which was in danger of falling.
Firefighters pulled the driver out and took him to the hospital.
"The accident was made much more dangerous because of the power lines," said Gainesville Fire Rescue Lt. Saulsberry. "We had to take additional precautions to assure both the patient and our own safety."
The driver is in stable condition.
