ORLANDO, Fla. (NEWS96.5) -- Could you imagine ordering something from and having it show up at your door just 30 minutes later?

It's something that Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has envisioned, and he revealed the ideas in an interview with CBS' 60 Minutes Sunday night. Bezos said the company is developing a service that delivers packages via autonomous drones.

The program, called Amazon Prime Air, would have drones delivering packages of up to five pounds -- which Bezos says makes up 86 percent of their orders -- within a half-hour up to 10 miles from the fulfillment center.

Bezos said Prime Air is still a few years away from being operational, mostly because of working out legal issues with the Federal Aviation Administration.

"The hardest challenge in making this happen is demonstrating to the standards of the FAA that this is a safe thing to do. This is years of additional work at this point," Bezos said.

The FAA's rules surrounding unmanned aerial vehicles could be in place as early as 2015, Amazon says.
