BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- Sixteen children were taken to a local hospital after a dump truck rear-ended the school bus they were traveling in.

According to the Glynn County Police Department, a dump truck collided with a school bus at Old Jesup Road and Old Cypress Mill Road on Monday afternoon.

The children on the bus were transported to a local hospital after complaining of minor neck and back pain.

The School Resource and county police officers on scene decided that the best way to move the kids to receive medical attention quickly would be to keep them on the bus to be taken to the hospital.

The bus driver also was transported with minor injuries.

Georgia State Patrol took over the investigation, and charges or a traffic citation are pending.
