JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- After weeks of meetings, the Duval County School Board is preparing to name the next school Superintendent.

The three finalists met with local teachers, principals, community leaders and incoming school board members Monday. On Tuesday morning, they'll meet with current board members for their final interviews.

Nickolai Vitti, the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum in Miami believes his experience makes him perfect for the job.

"Duval is in a great position right now to go from good to great. And I feel that I'm the right candidate to take us to the next level."

Dale Robbins says his 40 years in the education field has given him the leadership skills Duval County needs, and he wants to make Jacksonville his home.

"I think Duval County's like many counties. The challenge is diminishing resources with rising expectations."

Finally, Kriner Cash, the Superintendent of Memphis City Schools came highly recommended to the board.

"There's a tipping point right now. And if we don't get on this work with some pace and some urgency, Jacksonville can go either way."

Although Cash has a blemish on his record for having told a former co-worker that his beard made him look like a terrorist, Cash tells Action News it was a mistake that he has learned from.

All three candidates will meet with the school board at 9 a.m. Tuesday. The meeting will be held at the Schultz Center and is open to the public.

A webcast of the meeting is available at http://www.duvalschools.org/static/contact/communications/VOW/board/default.htm.
