JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Governor Rick Scott made a stop on his listening tour today in Jacksonville. He met with teachers and parents at Pinedale Elementary School. Monday's topic: the future of Florida's education.

Jacksonville teachers and parents sat down with Governor Scott, voicing their ideas to improve Florida's education system.

A few of the Governors goals during his tour is to empower parents to improve student outcomes, reward teachers who make student achievement possible, and link everything to preparation for college and careers.

Among the upcoming changes, Governor Scott plans to propose significant changes to student testing. "We don't want to teach to a test. We want to make sure our students are ready for their career, are ready for college. And we have to make sure we have a system that puts us in the best position to do that," says Governor Scott.

The Governor will continue his tour across Florida, meeting with one school a day to discuss ideas for the future of education.
